Boston Apartment
Boston, Massachusetts
2008
The apartment occupies the upper floors of a 19th century townhouse on the flat of Beacon Hill.
The manipulation of light was the primary design concern for the deep and narrow floorplate. Walls were removed and mirrored surfaces introduced to increase the penetration of light throughout the apartment. Bleached floors, an off-white and grey palette, simplified details and sandblasted glass panels were used to reflect, absorb or diffuse light.
