The house is in the East Side Historic District of Santa Fe, on a steep site. Parts date to the 18th century, with spaces added and filled in over the years, resulting in a loosely-organized collection of cellular rooms without strong connections to each other or to the exterior. The phased renovation reorganizes the site and house to clarify entry and circulation, to create habitable outside spaces and to capture the views to the surrounding mountains.
